What to Do When Your Wedding Doesn’t Go as Planned

Weddings are a beautiful, loving occasion where two people promise their hearts to one another. Because of this, many couples stress about the best day of their lives and worry it won’t be perfect. While not everything may go as planned, this doesn’t mean the day can’t be memorable and perfect in its own way. Keep calm and remember there are ways to manage when the day doesn’t go exactly as planned.

Anticipate the Unexpected

There will definitely be some surprises on your wedding day; some you may not like. Remind yourself that this is your day, and keep a positive attitude. Decide not to let anyone or anything ruin what should be the happiest day of your life.

Prepare for Weather

Especially important when planning an outdoor wedding, keeping a strategy in place for inclement weather is a great idea. Such plans can include having another venue set up for switching activities to the indoors. No one wants rain on his or her wedding day, but anticipate it anyway.

Leave the Attitude at the Door

We’ve all heard the term “bridezilla.” While this is mainly directed at the ladies, men can portray their anger as attitude as well. Demanding your way doesn’t always mean you will get it. Think of all the love and joy the day should bring, and squash any negative feelings beforehand.

Use Humor

When something doesn’t go according to plan, it can still be a genuine moment to capture. Utilize your individual humor if a slip up does happen, and it may turn into a photo opportunity. After all, laughter is the best medicine and crucial in a healthy relationship.

Remember Your Priorities

If a color or accent is slightly off, chances are you’ll be the only one to notice. Don’t sweat the small stuff. Your focus should be on your partner and your future life together. Additionally, if you’re noticeably upset, your guests are going to notice.

Show Gratitude

What goes around comes around, and this remains true when it comes to gratitude. Say thank you to all parties involved in your wedding, including:

  • The vendors
  • Your guests
  • Your family
  • The photographer
  • The wedding planner
  • The band
  • Your partner
